Jeffrey E. Budoff, M.D.

Dr. Budoff specializes in surgery of the hand and entire upper extremity. He has completed fellowships in both hand surgery and sports medicine, and has acquired extensive experience in both arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. He is experienced in reconstruction of both the tetraplegic and spastic hand.

Dr. Budoff has written and edited chapters in medical textbooks, routinely publishes original research in prestigious medical journals and frequently lectures about recent advances in upper extremity surgery. Dr. Budoff is board certified in orthopedic surgery, and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Budoff performs some complicated surgeries that most other hand and upper extremity surgeons do not. He is very experienced in surgical reconstruction for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis. This includes reconstruction of the hand and wrist, as well as total elbow and total shoulder replacement. Dr. Budoff is also experienced in surgical reconstruction of the tetraplegic hand and upper extremity. Depending on the individual patient, he is often able to restore significant function to the hand, wrist and elbow. He is also experienced in surgical releases of patients with significant spasticity, such as occurs following strokes or traumatic brain injuries.

Dr. Budoff currently has four offices - in the Texas Medical Center, Hedwig Village, Pearland and Spring, Texas. He is affiliated with The Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Education

Dr. Budoff graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University in Boston, Mass. He received his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College in New York, N.Y., where he graduated with honors. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, Calif. He then completed two fellowships: Sports medicine fellowship at Arlington Hospital, Va. ( Georgetown University affiliate) and a hand surgery fellowship at California-Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Calif.
